From Johannesburg to Plettenberg Bay: how we became the proud owners of Howberry Hills

Who we are
At the heart of Howberry Hills is our family.
Jordan 'Jords' Taylor is a passionate South African who thrives in rural settings. With a knack for fixing things and years of experience in customer operations, he brings hands-on enthusiasm to the farm. When he is not managing the property you will find him biking or fishing with the kids.
Daniella Taylor, known as Mom, has deep South African roots enriched by her Portuguese heritage. With backgrounds in HR, property management and sales, she is the tireless force behind the guest experience. She is also a trail runner who loves being outside and travelling, especially with family.
Daniel Joshua, our older son, is our little outdoor ranger and a huge fan of Bear Grylls. Lexi Olivia, our younger daughter, may be shy at times but is fiercely kind-hearted, and can usually be found playing in the meadow or helping in the garden.
The vision board moment
Two years ago, during our first visit to Plettenberg Bay, we stumbled upon a dream that would change our lives. Howberry Hills made it onto our vision board — a symbol of our hopes. The beauty of the area and the warmth of its community captivated us.
During that visit we met Andy, the creator and architect behind Howberry Hills. His passion for the land resonated with us deeply, and we soon discussed renting a small house on the farm — planting the seed for our move from Johannesburg.
Making the move
Deciding to relocate was not easy. We sold our home, enrolled the children in local schools and organised remote work. It was a bold leap, fuelled by our vision and the spirit we found in Plett. Through persistence and faith, Andy offered us an unexpected chance: the opportunity to buy the farm.
Embracing our new life
Owning Howberry Hills has transformed our family. From tending the land to welcoming guests, every day offers new adventures. Jordan's practical skills shine as we work on the property, and Daniella's guest experience expertise has helped us create a home for visitors — reflected in our consistently high guest ratings.
Our children are thriving here. Daniel explores the local wildlife and shares his discoveries, including sightings of the endangered Cape marble butterfly, while Lexi enjoys the freedom of outdoor play and friends who share her love of nature.
Looking ahead
Our vision for Howberry Hills continues to evolve. We dream of a place where families connect with nature and make lasting memories — where guests feel part of our family and the wider community, rather than simply passing through.
Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
